A board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician, Dr. Thomas P. Pontinen welcomes patients at MAPS – Midwest Anesthesia Pain Specialists in Illinois. He established the practice in 2014 alongside his partner and dear friend Darrel Saldanha, MD. MAPS – Midwest Anesthesia Pain Specialists is one of the largest practices of its kind in the state of Illinois. MAPS has offices in Chicago, Des Plaines, Franklin Park, Hazel Crest, and Woodridge, IL. Dr. Pontinen also practices at several local hospitals, including Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL and AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, IL. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pontinen is a published author of journal articles and textbook chapters, prolific presenter, principal investigator in FDA trails, as well as active researcher on chronic wound pain. Licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, he features a remarkable professional journey that spans seven years.
